This article is for you who either already has, or want to have your very own personal email
e.g. hej@jenshansen.dk, and who therefore need what is called "email hosting UK" or in good Danish " mail hotel ", i.e. a place on the web where you can have your domain located and where you can receive, send and store emails.
In this article, we will look at the options you have for cheap email hosting here in Denmark. We need to see what the different providers cost and what you get included in this price.
Price and space
Most email hosting solutions today support all the features and options you need to set up an email account on your domain, and the two most important parameters to choose email hosting on are therefore space and price.
Emails take up space, and therefore you must of course have enough space to be able to have all your emails lying around. However, keep in mind that emails do not fill the whole world, so unless you have 20 email accounts and receive 200-300 emails every day, you will rarely spend quite a lot more than 3-4 GB on emails. And if you do, you can always clear out some of them, for example, by clearing out some of those that are several years old.
Therefore, when choosing email hosting, there is no need to choose a large solution with a lot of space, as you will probably never need it (and if you do, you can upgrade to more space in most places)
Our advice is therefore to choose a solution with 3-10 GB of space, where the price is to work with.
What should one be aware of when choosing email hosting?
It is worth noting that many providers do not offer a dedicated email hosting solution, but instead, a webspace that can be used for both websites and email hosting - you decide here what you want to use the space on, whether it is on emails or websites.
When you buy email hosting, you do not have to choose a dedicated email solution, as you can easily use many web hotels for dedicated email hotels. This applies, for example, to providers such as Nordic way, AzeHosting, and cHosting.
Another thing to keep in mind when choosing email hosting is whether you can set up multiple email accounts.
Do you have e.g. the domains mit-domæne.dk and mit-anden-domæne.dk, and would like the following two emails:
kontakt@mit-domæne.dk
kontakt@mit-andet-domæne.dk
Then it is not with all providers that this is possible. With many, you can only get mail accounts on one domain, and you thus have to buy two hosting solutions to get the mentioned mails.
However, there are providers such as. Nordic way and AzeHosting, where you can have as many domains and email accounts as you want without it costing more.
Must-have and nice-to-have features
When buying email hosting, the most important features are:
Space for storing emails
Including DNS service
Possibility of multiple mail accounts
Webmail
Possibility of POP3 or IMAP
With these features, you are well covered.
However, there are also several nice-to-have features that some email hosting providers offer. These can e.g. be:
Spam filter function
Anti-virus function
Including the possibility of exporting emails
The latter is relevant in case you want to change the provider. This is because it is not always easy to move emails from one provider to another. With some providers, it is not possible to extract emails at all and with others, it costs a one-time fee every time you want to export all your emails.
Therefore, it can be an advantage to choose a provider that offers export of all your emails as part of your subscription, as this way you can easily change and move provider if you wish.
How does email hosting work?
Email hosting works by connecting your domain to the hosting solution. Then you get several server information that you can use in your mail client to send and receive emails. If you do not already have a domain, you can always buy it through the hosting provider, who will automatically connect it to their server so you can start using your mail.
You always decide for yourself which emails you want on your domain. You can e.g. choose peter@mit-domæne.dk or hej@mit-domæne.dk - or maybe both!
All the emails you send and receive are stored on the server where you have purchased email hosting, so you can always access them via webmail or via your email client, where you connect to your host via POP3 or IMAP.
Email hosting is an alternative to e.g. a classic Gmail account since with a Gmail you cannot get your domain after @, here you must always use @ gmail.com.
Email hosting is thus an opportunity to get your completely personal email which is also ad-free (in Gmail there are for example many advertisements)
